Reviewing GHG reporting rule requirements

World Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»,

The American Petroleum InstituteÂ鶹´«Ã½Ó³»™s (API) Director of Regulatory and Scientific Affairs, Howard Feldman, has issued the following statement regarding the Environmental Protection AgencyÂ鶹´«Ã½Ó³»™s (EPA) final rule on GHG reporting requirements for the petroleum and natural gas industries:

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»˜We are looking over the EPAÂ鶹´«Ã½Ó³»™s final rule on GHG reporting requirements for the petroleum and natural gas industries to see whether it addresses the concerns we raised during the rulemaking process. As proposed, this rule would have defined Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»˜facilityÂ鶹´«Ã½Ó³»™ in an unworkable manner and imposed unreasonable reporting obligations on tens of thousands of oil and gas operations.Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»™

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»˜API has long held the view that the EPA should defer undertaking regulation of stationary source GHG emissions until Congress addresses the issue. Climate change is a serious issue, and it needs to be addressed by Congress guided by the input of other elected officials and the American people.Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»™
