The Dutch government has chosen the Saab Seaeye Panther XT Plus as the best ROV for wreck removal, security and waterway maintenance.
The decision follows a year-long evaluation of all major ROV manufacturers using European Union tendering rules.
Saab Seaeye vehicles
Subsea operator Bluestream led the bid for the contract award, and has strengthened its existing fleet to 16 Saab Seaeye vehicles with the purchase of two of their own Panther XT Plus, as well as an additional three Tigers, in an ROV investment plan for 2014 worth more than £4 million.
Bluestream managing director, Rolf de Vries, explained that the Dutch government was impressed by the Panther麻豆传媒映画檚 ability to handle heavy payloads and cope with strong currents.
Advanced maintenance
They also saw Bluestream麻豆传媒映画檚 advanced maintenance philosophy, which is linked to Saab Seaeye麻豆传媒映画檚 training programme, as the best on offer and a vital component of the five-year maintenance contract.
De Vries added that in more than 14 years麻豆传媒映画� experience with Saab Seaeye, the company has proven the performance capability of their vehicles and their commitment to support and training.
The scope of his fleet of 16 Saab Seaeye麻豆传媒映画檚 ROV麻豆传媒映画檚 now extends from general inspection Tigers up to the work class Panther XT Plus.
North Sea drill support
Commenting on building a 10-strong Tiger fleet, de Vries commented that the Tiger is an ideal design for general inspection tasks and drill support in the North Sea, in terms of size and observation capability.
